Cordoba is Man of the Match

With the 3:1 win over VfL Wolfsburg, Jhon Cordoba managed to score a brace and score for the fifth home game in a row. The FC fans voted him as Man of the Match.

Jhon Cordoba: It says a lot about a player that, when they get substituted, the applause is almost as loud as a goal celebration. Jhon Cordoba opened the scoring on Saturday with a superbly taken header from Mark Uth’s free-kick. The Colombian then added another just before the break to put FC fully in the driving seat. His hold-up play, as ever, was superb and he was the most fouled player on the pitch.

Jonas Hector: The FC captain was a force to be reckoned with in midfield once more. Hector covered the second most ground of all players on the pitch on Saturday afternoon (12.07km), with only Ellyes Skhiri running more. Not only did he make an impact across the pitch, Hector also got on the scoresheet with a header at the back post to make it 3:0. It is the first time the 29-year-old has scored more than twice in a Bundesliga season.

Timo Horn: As Jonas Hector appropriately said, FC had Timo Horn to thank for still being in the game after the first 10 minutes. Horn made a crucial save from Wout Weghorst early on, and continued to he continued to excel in the second half. That included notable stops from both Xaver Schlager and Maximilian Arnold’s swerving free-kick. The 26-year-old was also a force in the air, dealing successfully with six balls into the box and playing a crucial part in his 100th FC win.

FC fans were asked to vote across all the digital channels, and Jhon Cordoba came out on top.
