Until the end of the season at AS Saint-Étienne

FC loan out Anthony Modeste

1. FC Köln have loaned out Anthony Modeste until the end of the season to AS Saint-Étienne.

Just before the Winter transfer window closes, 1. FC Köln and Anthony Modeste have opted to go their separate ways until the end of the season. The 32-year-old striker will play for Ligue 1 club AS Saint-Étienne on loan until the end of the season.

“Tony hasn’t had an easy time. As an opportunity for a transfer arose, we spoke openly: a change of scenery and a move to his home country is a chance. We wish that Tony plays as much as possible at Saint-Étienne, scores goals and finds his form,” said FC Managing Director, Horst Heldt.

“I’m looking forward to the time in my home country and the chance to get as much game time as possible at Saint-Étienne. I wish my team-mates at FC the best for the Rückrunde and I’m crossing my fingers that we achieve our goal and stay in the league,” said Anthony Modeste.

Anthony Modeste joined 1. FC Köln from TSG Hoffenheim in 2015 and made 73 appearances in two seasons for FC, scoring 45 goals. In summer 2017, the Frenchman moved to Chinese Super League club Tianjin Quanjian, where he scored 16 goals in 29 games. In November 2018, Modeste returned to FC and has scored 11 times in 48 matches.
