Striker signs until 2023

FC sign Andersson

1. FC Köln have completed the signing of Sebastian Andersson from 1. FC Union Berlin. The striker has signed a contract until 2023.

1. FC Köln have signed Sebastian Andersson. The striker arrives from 1. FC Union Berlin and has signed a deal until 2023. In the past season, the Swedish international scored 12 goals (three assists) in the Bundesliga.

“Sebastian is a physically strong player, who is strong in the area and on the ground – he is a player with fantastic mentality. He has made more than 100 appearances at the highest level and has constantly proven his ability to score goals,” said FC managing director, Horst Heldt.

“For me, new challenges are important. In Berlin, I have evolved over the past two years in sporting terms, but also as a person. The move to Köln is now the next step. I’m looking forward to the adventure with this special club. I am a player, who works hard for the team, who always gives 100% and who wants to score goals to reach our season aims,” said Sebastian Andersson.

The 29-year-old will wear the number nine shirt. Andersson will join training on Wednesday.

Sebastian Andersson was born on 15th July 1991 in Ängelholm, Sweden. At his home club of Ängelholms FF, he began his football career and made the leap to the first team in 2009. The 1.90m tall striker made the jump to the Allsvenskan after 17 goals across his first two seasons in the second tier. After playing for Kalmar FF, Djurgårdens IF and IFK Norrköping, Andersson found his way to Germany and 1. FC Kaiserslautern. There, he became a first-term player and scored 12 goals in 19 appearances, adding four assists. He then made the move to 1. FC Union Berlin, made 34 appearances for the capital club in the Bundesliga and scored 12 goals, with six assists.
