Hector, Anfang and Geis after St. Pauli

Geis: “I had goosebumps”

After the 4:1 home win against FC St. Pauli, NetCologne FC-TV spoke with Jonas Hector, Markus Anfang and Johannes Geis.

Jonas Hector: “We wanted to show that it was a home game and to attack early on in front of our fans. Up until the first goal, we built the pressure well. But we weren’t consistent enough to make it 1:0 earlier in the game. After our goal, we necessarily turned off a little and then conceded the equaliser not long after. However, I think that we got better and delivered a good home game. If you have two bulls up front, who manage to hold up almost every ball, then it’s hugely important. And when they manage to reward themselves with goal, then it’s even better for the two of them. It’s not a bad way to start the weekend.”

Markus Anfang: “In the first half, we had 74% possession and were always trying to score. Then we scored the first goal and thought that it was the monkey off the back - then we fell asleep for five minutes and conceded the equaliser from a set-piece. But how the boys continued to play forward and above all the way and style in which they presented themselves, as a unit, as a team – that was absolutely fantastic.”

Johannes Geis: “There was a good feeling from the start today. We started the game well, conceded a stupid set-piece goal to make it 1:1, but overall we did well. We are happy and proud to have come away with the three points at the end. We knew that St. Pauli could counter very well. Therefore, we wanted to nip that in the bud. That worked very well. I’ve always liked the goal music at FC. To hear it four times on my home debut, made it even better. I have goosebumps. It’s simply always an experience to play here. I’m proud to be FC.”
