FC winger, Ismail Jakobs has been crowned as Rookie of the Month for December. The award is run by the Bundesliga for players under the age of 23, who have not accumulated a start or more than 450 minutes in the previous league campaign.
That was the case not only for Jakobs, but also for Sebastiaan Bornauw and Noah Katterbach. It is the first time an FC player has won the award since its inception in 2016-17. Along with the fans, clubs and pundits vote to choose the monthly winner.
The 20-year-old has had a month to remember, having scored the first goal of his professional career. That capped off an incredible game against Eintracht Frankfurt, but Jakobs was consistent throughout the month of December. The Erfstadt-born wide-man averaged almost 44 sprints per game, covering 11.4km on average. He also won an impressive 59% of his challenges.
