    Training on Tuesday

    Looking ahead to Bayern

With carnival in the rearview, the FC players are getting back to work. A date with the champions awaits on Saturday.

Following the customary warm-up, Tuesday’s practice had its full focus on gameplay and variations. First on a small field without goals, and then on a larger scale including goalkeepers. Neven Subotic took part in an individual session on a bicycle, while Timo Horn continued to train alone. Meanwhile, Captain Matthias Lehmann is improving by the day. “Matze has to tell us when he feels ready. My gut says he won’t be ready for Saturday, but I wouldn’t rule it out,” said Peter Stöger.

On Saturday 1. FC Köln will host FC Bayern Munich at the RheinEnergieSTADION. The champions of the Bundesliga will first host FC Schalke 04 on Wednesday in the Quarterfinals of the DFB-Pokal. FC is looking to surprise the record holders, just as they did in Munich back in October. Anthony Modeste scored the equalizer at the time. When Journalists asked regarding The French striker’s “I am staying in Cologne” tweet in the early morning of the previous night, Stöger replied: “Where else should he be at 1am?”

Kick off at the RheinEnergieSTADION on Saturday (4 March 2017) is scheduled for 15:30.
