3 Questions with Jonas Hector

“Pick it up together”

Jonas Hector sat down with ahead of the TSG Hoffenheim match to talk about the loss in Augsburg, his experience with FC, and the upcoming opponent.

Jonas, the Augsburg match did not go according to plan. How can you, as a leading figure, pull the team up again?

Jonas Hector: “That is not something I can do alone. The whole team has pick it up together. We know what we did wrong and the areas in which we can improve. We were unable to find our footing in the match and conceded some careless goals as a result. We all need to tackle the problem together to come out of this kind of situation.”

You are in your seventh year at FC. How do you see the development of the team?

“Very good. I am in my fifth year as a professional. Back when we were in the second division, our goal was always to become a top side again. I think we have done a fine job since securing promotion. We had few worries in our first year back in the Bundesliga and same goes for the second year. We are currently playing another good season. Our focus now is to make the best out of the remaining matches. In the end we want to be able to say that we took another step forwards.”

On Friday, FC will host TSG Hoffenheim at the RheinEnergieSTADION – a Champions League candidate. What makes them such an uncomfortable opponent?

“Hoffenheim have a very good playing system. They make good use of the ball when they are in possession through their spacing and passing. Confidence also plays a major part when you look at their standing and the recent stretch of results. We will have to give everything to withstand them. We want to win the energy of the fans through our fighting spirit.”
