Simon Terodde returns to FC

1. FC Köln have completed the first signing of the winter transfer window. Striker Simon Terodde arrives by way of VfB Stuttgart.

1. FC Köln have signed Simon Terodde from VfB Stuttgart. The striker joins FC in the 2017/18 winter break to reinforce the attacking options. The 29-year-old has signed a deal that will keep him at the club until 30 June 2021.

FC General Manager Armin Veh states: “Simon Terodde is physically strong, has proven over the years that he is clinical in front of goal, and is a great guy.”

In the current season Terodde featured 17 times for Stuttgart in the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal and scored three goals (two assists) in the process. In the 2016/17 season he scored 25 goals (four assists) in the second league and played a pivotal role in Stuttgart’s dominance and promotion back into the Bundesliga first division. The experienced striker made his Bundesliga debut during his first spell at 1. FC Köln between 2009 and 2011. Since then, Terodde has played 20 matches in the Bundesliga (two goals) and 187 matches in the Bundesliga second division (89 goals).

Simon Terodde states: “I had two very nice years in Cologne and am really happy to return here. I made my first step as a professional footballer in Cologne and know all about the special atmosphere at the RheinEnergieSTADION. Of course we have a difficult challenge awaiting us in the second half of the season, but we will do everything we can in order to maintain our place in the Bundesliga.”

Terodde will wear the number 9 for FC.
