After the long wait for the draw, 1. FC Köln were the very last team to be pulled from Pot 2 of the Domestic Champions Path. That meant a trip to Glasgow to face Rangers, where FC will make their debut in the Youth League as one of the ties of the round. The Scottish side will welcome face to the knock-out fixture on 2nd/3rd March.
U19 Head Coach, Stefan Ruthenbeck said: “Our players, coaching and backroom staff, as well as everyone at the club, are buzzing with the draw. Our participation is something special for us and Rangers are a dream draw. We’re really looking forward to the tie with such a huge Scottish club. For our boys it is a real highlight that to be heading away from home and to gain new experiences. Rangers were one of the most attractive but difficult opponents in our Pot. We will be well prepared in Glasgow and don’t want our international journey to end there. We know that it is a big challenge, but we want to be brave with how we play and find a way into the next round.”
