Jannes Horn's home is in Braunschweig. It was there where he took his first footballing steps as a four-year-old at VfB Rot-Weiß Braunschweig. Instead of the usual step which many talented kids in the city made and move to the well-known and bigger Eintracht, Jannes Horn was part of the VfL Wolfsburg Football Camp and headed there instead.

In Wolfsburg, the left-back began to make a name for himself. He made his way through all the academy teams and quickly became a Germany youth international. Since the under-16s, Horn has been part of the Germany set-up and made his debut under Stefan Kuntz for the under-21s in 2017.

Horn made his Bundesliga debut for Wolfsburg on 17th September 2016 in a 0:0 draw with TSG Hoffenheim. He made 13 appearances for the Volkswagen Arena side before joining 1. FC Köln in summer 2018. After relegation to 2. Bundesliga and the direct return to the Bundesliga, Horn was loaned out to Hannover 06. He made 23 appearances in 2. Bundesliga for Hannover before returning to Geißbockheim.

A small note: if football didn't work out as a career, then Jannes Horn probably would have become a physio. His entire family is active in that area. His half-brother, who also works in professional football, has been with Eintracht Brauschweig since 2003-04.
