1. FC Köln have reacted to the decision from the Minister President Conference in relation to the ticket sales for the next two home games. For large open-air events, including the Bundesliga, the measures of a maximum 15,000 fans, vaccinated or recovered (2G) and mask wearing apply. Due to this reason, FC will have to reorganise the ticket process for the last two home games before Christmas. The matches effected are against FC Augsburg (10th December) and VfB Stuttgart (19th December).
“The stability of our health system stands above all else. Due to this reason, we were consequent and decided to move to the 2G model and pushed for vaccinations since the beginning of the season. We have always said that vaccinations are the decisive factor in the fight against Corona. The decisions from today’s Conference confirm that, even when it feels like it comes too late. The fourth wave is here, therefore we will live up to our responsibility and do everything possible to return to normality with vaccinations and boosters,” said FC Managing Director, Alexander Wehrle. “We are going to have to live with the virus. However, now we are going to have to live with the reduction in fans, even though there is no evidence for infection chains at events in open air and the 2G rule means that the infection potential at football matches is proven to have no effect on the hospitalisation rate.”
In terms of the concrete implementation of the measures that have been decided upon, 1. FC Köln will speak with the Stadt Köln health authorities. 1. FC Köln will cancel all tickets that have already been purchased and refund the money. All season ticket holders will be informed by email in the coming days how the ticket process will proceed for the final two home games.
