FC Frauen have made their eighth new signing ahead of the coming campaign. Weronika Zawistowska will join FC on loan for the new term from FC Bayern Munich.
The 21-year-old forward joined Bayern this summer from Polish record champions, KKS Czarni Sosnowiec and signed a three-year deal with the current FLYERALARM Frauen-Bundesliga title holders. She made 16 appearances and scored six goals as KKS Czarni Sosnowiec claimed the league and cup double. Zawistowska also scored on her most recent outing for the Polish national team.
Nicole Bender, FC Frauen Sporting Director, said: “Our good contacts with FC Bayern Munich enabled us to bring Weronika in on loan for the season. She is a player who is quick and can dribble well, and a winger who has a lot of potential and room to develop. She is a strong runner and can score goals. She is a huge addition on the way to work goal of establishing ourselves in the Bundesliga.”
Weronika Zawistowska said, “I am really pleased to be a part of 1. FC Köln’s team in the coming season and to be able to get to know the Bundesliga. We have a group of players with a lot of potential and a very good coaching team, in what is a very warm club. I can’t wait to train with my new team-mates and to start the new season.”
Before the signing of Zawistowska, FC have already secured the services of Adriana Achcinska, Laura Donhauser, Myrthe Moorrees, Manjou Wilde, Jana Beuschlein, Elvira Herzog and Irini Ioannidou.
Bender commented on the transfer plans, saying: “When nothing out of the ordinary happens, then our plans for the new season have been concluded. We are convinced that our squad has the potential to play a good season, to secure safety and to develop in footballing terms.”
On 12th July, FC Frauen will begin their pre-season preparations ahead of the new season. The first round of the DFB-Pokal der Frauen is planned for 21st/22nd August. The first Matchday of the new FLYERALARM Frauen-Bundesliga season will see FC Frauen travel to SGS Essen on 27th-29th August.
